LGBT Mural Going Up in Charlotte, NC

Some good news to come out of North Carolina after the deflating ban on gay marriage equality earlier this year. A mural “meant to bring awareness to the local LGBT community” is going up on Central Ave in Charlotte. From qnotes:

The mural’s location was selected for its significance within the local LGBT community. White Rabbit is the only LGBT-specific bookstore in the state. The building also houses the offices of this newspaper. Organizers say that the mural’s presence on Central Ave. will highlight Plaza Midwood and surrounding areas known for their LGBT-inclusive and friendly atmosphere and high concentration of LGBT residents and small business owners.

The project should be completed by the time the city’s annual Pride Charlotte Festival and the Democratic National Convention set up shop in late August and early September.
