Busting the Maine Marriage Myths

Looks like Minnesota isn’t the only state where gay marriage equality opponents are spreading falsehoods. The American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) gives us a break down of the myths within the anti-equality ads that are now appearing in Maine.

My two favorite parts come around the two minute mark; it’s stated that marriage equality wasn’t even law at the time of the complaints, and around the 4:30 mark; it’s stated that California has had to pass additional laws to “close loopholes from letting gay and lesbian couples being treated equally.”

Use these truths as you talk to folks about why gay marriage equality matters.
