From the CapitalGazette.com:
A Senate committee has killed a bill prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity.
The Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee voted 6-5 last week to defeat Senate Bill 449.
Similar bills had failed in recent years, but this year’s version had 23 sponsors in the Senate. Only 24 votes are needed to pass a bill in the Senate.
The legislation would have prohibited discrimination based on gender identity and expression with regard to employment, housing, credit and public accommodations.
