Florida LGBT group seeks plaintiffs in marriage fight

Florida’s largest state LGBT civil rights group is advertising for potential plaintiffs to challenge the state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

Equalify Florida issued the call for potential plaintiffs less than a week after the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling that overturned a key provision in the 1996 federal Defense of Marriage Act and and also issued decision that lets stand a trial court ruling overturning California’s anti-gay marriage amendment.

Equality Florida leaders consulted with state and national legal experts about the scope of the Supreme Court decision before reaching out.
