With the closing of BRB (Brazos River Bottom), Houston was left without a gay country scene, but not for long. Neon Boots and Dancehall Saloon is opening in August.
From the Houston Chronicle:
Houston’s gay bar scene is about to kick up some dust. And it’s happening nowhere near Montrose.
Neon Boots Dancehall and Saloon is slated to open this month at 11410 Hempstead Highway, roughly 20 minutes from Houston’s hub of gay bars. And as you’ve likely determined from the name, it’s a country bar, complete with cowboy karaoke and weekly dance lessons.
“While Neon Boots is gay-owned and operated, we welcome all people regardless of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity or beliefs,” reads a press release sent out this week. “When visiting Neon Boots please respect other peoples lifestyles and as always drink responsibly.”
The article notes that Neon Boots has over 10,000 square foot of space and the venue, prior to being Neon Boots was host to country legends like Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline. Wonder if Willie would be interested in stopping by The Boots again to perform?
