Pride Night for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community have been staples for pro sports teams like those in my hometown of Washington, DC. Outsports.com is reporting on a college version of the same idea in Ohio:
Gay Hockey Ohio has again partnered with The Ohio State University Athletics Department, Outlook Media and Stonewall Columbus to bring fans the 2nd Annual Pride Night, #PrideattheShott. Pride Night 2014 will be Saturday January 11, 2014, as our Ohio State Buckeyes face off against the Michigan State Spartans at the Value City Arena in the Schottenstein Center, located at 555 Borror Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43210.
Former NFL player and Executive Director of the You Can Play Project, Wade Davis, will be kicking off Pride Night at 5:00pm with a roundtable discussion hosted by second year law student and co-chair of the OSU OutLaws, Brooke Cartus. Wade’s discussion about being an openly gay man in professional sports, his life experiences and journeys, as well as the You Can Play Projects’ “High Five” Initative will be held in The Boardroom of the Schottenstein Center. The Boardroom is located under Section 127 and OSU Hockey Pride Night tickets are required for admittance.
I like that they have added the discussion component.
Anyone know of any other colleges that do similar Pride Nights?
