While Nigeria is not Russia, the fact that these articles appear next to each other speaks to the problem with taking Scot Blackmun’s advice. Not saying anything is being complicit with a law that allows violence to occur against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people. Far from being just an intellectual, philosophical, or even ideological issue, the gay propaganda law in Russia and others like it has become a physical issue. An issue were people in the world are facing physical harm from the law through the attitudes of those who support it. Attitudes that are leading to violence. That is something worth protesting.
