Why It Gets Better: Va. Attorney General Evolves on Marriage Equality

Joe Jervis, blogger for Joe. My. God., notes that recently elected Attorney General, Mark Herring of Virginia, will file a supportive brief in the case to overturn that state’s gay marriage ban. What is notable about this post that Herring had voted against marriage equality in 2006:

Herring, too, had voted against same-sex marriage eight years ago, when he was a state senator. But he has said that his views have changed since then and that on Thursday he will file a supportive brief in a lawsuit in Norfolk that challenges the state’s ban, said two people familiar with his plans.

You really need to read the full blog post for Herring’s quote on National Public Radio.

Why It Gets Better is a series of postings showing, real-time, concrete, tangible ways that life is getting better for LGBT people.
