Why It Gets Better: Gay Pride Flag in ‘Washington Post’ Vacation Article

The below photo was attached to an article from The Washington Post on how vacations are good for you by leaving you rested and recharged. The inclusion of the pride flag in the photo of this everyday article reinforces the feeling of making strides toward inclusion.

In the past, I would have expected this picture would be PhotoShopped or cropped to exclude the pride flag. It’s presence here, in an article not even related to gay rights or gay issues, provides me with a sense of how, even in small ways, it gets better.

Why It Gets Better is a series of postings showing, real-time, concrete, tangible ways that life is getting better for LGBT people.
